SBR Life Sciences – Delivering Sealing Solutions for over 40 years

SBR Life Sciences has the knowledge and expertise to support critical life science and healthcare industries with silicone and rubber sealing solutions. The formation of SBR-LS is a result of the progressive approach Southbourne Rubber has taken since the business was formed in the '70s.

Manufacturing with quality, production agility and overall excellence has always been the common goal. With an extensive understanding of rubber and silicone compound material options, SBR-LS supports and meets the demands of critical markets and applications, not only in the UK but globally too.

As part of The West Group of Companies, SBR-LS achieves an enhanced, collective expertise for their customers. As the company's scientific knowledge develops, so must the creation of technologies to enable the development of working practice. They have technical teams with extensive knowledge of materials, their applications and how they can be maximised or manipulated.

Silicone is widely used in the Life Science market due to its purity, inertness and biocompatibility. It is non-toxic, resistant to bacteria and its superior properties make it useful for seals and gaskets that need to be steamed or sterilised - this durable and highly resistant material is well suited for use in temperatures greater than 100°C (the limit of most other rubbers). It is also a safe option where medical devices are powered by electricity as it has excellent electrical resistance.

To combat waste, SBR-LS have recently partnered with a supplier and customer to determine a method of recycling silicone materials. As a result, they were able to recycle waste from various silicone production and raw material rejects, which would have otherwise been consigned to landfill. Once the waste reached 100 kilos, 100% of it was re-processed with their partner, and converted to base raw materials (silicone) which can be re-moulded.

The SBR Life Sciences' Sales team will be on hand at the exhibition, along with The West Group, to assist with all your O-ring and sealing requirements.
