Graham Ball, Executive Director, Medical Technologies Research Centre, Anglia Ruskin University

Prof Graham Ball is currently Executive Director of the Medical Technologies Research Centre at Anglia Ruskin University and is a founder director and CSO of Intelligent OMICS Ltd.

He has for 20 years led the development and validation of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML) approaches for Molecular data interrogation. He has focussed on applying these approaches to public data repositories leveraging actionable and translational features from the data. He has 203 journal papers and 7 patents in this area.

Prof Ball has developed innovative ML strategies that allow the identification of optimised biomarker panels and molecular network models from omics data. This approach has been applied to the diagnosis of sepsis, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, Alzheimer's disease and cancer.

Prof Ball is currently focussing his efforts on the development of AIML approaches for In silico drug discovery where he has demonstrated that the methods can identify drivers of the MEKK pathway in lung cancer.
